Homemade apple crumble

Nothing beats homemade apple crumble and it is so easy to put together for those last minute dinner parties.

You only need four ingredients for this dessert to work and a small amount of time to mix them all together before letting the heat of the oven cook the crumble into a hot, yummy desert that would put a smile on everyone's faces. This recipe will serve four people, or four servings if you keep it all to yourself.

Ingredients:

3ozs of butter
3ozs of sugar
3ozs of flour
3 good sized Bramble apples

Chop the butter into small cubes.

Add the sugar, flour and butter into a big mixing bowl.

Mix the three ingredients together, until you have formed a crumble like mixture. It doesn't matter if the lumps are all different sizes, this will give more of a crunch when cooked.

Do remember to remove any rings as this can get messy.

Peel, core and slice the apples. Use any spare butter from the wrapper to grease the dish that you will be cooking the crumble in. Place the apples into an even layer at the bottom of the dish.

Add your crumble mixture on top. Make sure that all of the apples are covered in the crumble.

That is it! Your apple crumble is now ready for the oven. Preheat the oven at 180°C and once the temperature has been reached place the crumble in the middle of the oven.

Cook the apple crumble for 50 minutes, until golden brown and then take it out of the oven. Let the crumble rest on the side for 20 minutes. This is a great chance to prepare your topping of choice. I personally love custard with apple crumble, but you can have cream, ice cream or what ever you fancy.

After 20 minutes, sit down and enjoy.

  14. I suggest adding corn flakes and porridge oats to the crumble mix .It gives it a crunchy taste. Dont forget you can add a bit of ginger or cinnamon as well for flavour

  15. These measurements just make a dough ball & not a crumble mix. Add more flour !
